Description

Our project is a manifesto ofrich stories of the WashingtonPark neighborhood as told byits residents. Beginning with anindividual home’s architecturalhistory, we learn about past andcurrent resident life and celebratefamily and “home”. Each story is ofa strength that over time facilitatedsuccessful neighborhood life. While resident reflections ofneighborhood change make thepast and the present distinctand separate, these storiesemphasize how past and presentare influenced by each other. They also provide a deeperunderstanding of the social, political, economic, and racialforces within and beyond theWashington Park neighborhoodthat literally and figurativelyshape and sustain family andneighborhood life.
