Description

Looking into how gaming has changed over the years, I plan to look in to how in the past gaming has had this negative aura about it, especially dungeons and dragons over the past 15 – 20 years. One didn’t go around and announce they played the game. I want to look in to the “why” of the past; why did gaming in general, but specially dungeons and dragons have such a negative connotation with it. Why did people not go around and share they played the game except with those that already did. I also want to look at the why and how things changed in the current times. I also plan to look into how gaming has evolved in society today. I plan to look at various articles and interviews, as well as looking into the rise of gaming conventions. This research I feel tells a great story of how something that brings joy to many, and for a long time, has branched out and reached a whole new group of people, especially with tv shows like Big Bang Theory showing main characters that are huge into gaming. There is a plethora of information out there about the history of gaming in general, but to look at the rise in popularity I think shines a bigger light on how as a society, especially in a time where so many people are judgmental and can easily hide behind a computer screen, gaming has breached that barrier to become something good and accepted.
